UFC 280 Preview
Without a doubt, UFC 280 is the best event of the year, at least in my opinion. Charles Oliveira will compete for the Lightweight championship against Islam Makhachev in the main event. Aljamain Sterling will face Dillashaw for the Bantamweight title in the co-feature event. Both of these fights are going to be insane to watch, especially the main fight. All the details are below, in my UFC 280 Preview.
Charles Oliveira: Fighter History
If you’ve been following UFC for a while, you’re probably aware of Charles Oliveira’s talent. Having made his UFC debut in 2010, Oliveira has the most submission victories (16) and finishes (19) in the organization’s history. Oliveira, who is presently ranked number four pound for pound in the world, is by far the best fighter in the lightweight class after defeating Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. If he gets a win against Islam, he can even be considered one of the best lightweights. Until then, I think Khabib owns that spot.
Islam Makhachev: Fighter History
Since Islam Makhachev has been around for so long, you most likely already know about him as well. Islam made his debut in 2015, and since then, he has significantly improved to rank among the greatest in his sport. Islam has a great record, having won 22 times and lost only once. He has what it takes to become the future lightweight champion of the UFC. He defeated Dan Hooker, Thiago Moises, and Drew Dober in his most recent three fights, showing how strong he can be.
When is the Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev Fight?

How will the fight play out?
Undoubtedly, Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev will be a very difficult match to predict. Oliveira can fight everywhere and is very aggressive, which is an advantage. Islam Makhachev doesn’t strike as much as Oliveira, but when he does, he often delivers his punches more accurately. In addition, he takes way less harm than Charles.
Islam has high accuracy, but he also tends to keep a fair distance from his opponents, which reduces his body damage when battling.
Since Charles Oliveira is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I believe that he will try to grapple with Islam during the fight to make him feel extremely uncomfortable. If Islam makes even the slightest mistake, the entire fight might be compromised. Islam Makhachev is one of the finest defenders in the sport, and he is also a very calculating fighter.
Prediction: Islam Makhachev, in my opinion, will triumph in the third round by submission.
